The Cost of Acupuncture $85-$130
The cost of acupuncture varies throughout the United States just like other services. When seeing a licensed acupuncturist, as opposed to a professional who has studied the basics of acupuncture as a continuation of their education, you are seeing a care provider that has spent 3-4 years of post graduate, masters degree level training. An acupuncture session is usually between 60-90 minutes, during which time your health information is gathered, your questions answered, a diagnosis is completed and a treatment is provided. The upper range of expenses for acupuncture in Vermont is $175 for an initial consult and the average rate is $125. Follow up visits are less time consuming and that is reflected in a reduction in cost of acupuncture. Return visits can vary from $$60-$150 for acupuncture. At Integrative Acupuncture in Montpelier and Williston, VT of Washington County, our time of service cost of acupuncture is $125 for initial visits and $75 for return visits. A recent Time article referenced $50-$150 for an average session.
Insurance Coverage
Why bother paying insurance premiums every month if your insurance plan doesn’t cover the health care you want? We hear this all the time at Integrative Acupuncture. That’s why we strive to accept any and all insurance plans that cover our acupuncture services. We are in network with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Vermont. We also regularly bill for workers compensation, Veterans Affairs (VA) and auto insurance claims. Federal Blue Cross/Blue Shield also covers acupuncture. When your plan covers acupuncture, we handle the billing for you and our patients pay their standard copay for a “specialist” or the percentage due once we receive the explanation of benefits (EOB). We’ve been at the insurance thing for over 5 years now and to our knowledge, are the most experienced acupuncture practice in Vermont to handle insurance billing for acupuncture. If you would like to put your premium towards the health care you want, consider Integrative Acupuncture in Montpelier and Williston.
Group Acupuncture- $10 Treatments? (suspended due to COVID19)
No insurance and can’t afford the cost of acupuncture? No problem. We are committed to accessible acupuncture, which means accessibility for everyone. To that, we are actively working to help all Vermonters have coverage that includes acupuncture ( check out our state association: Vermont Acupuncture Association) In the mean time, we offer $10 drop in acupuncture every Thursday in Montpelier and Williston. What’s the catch? Well there is a difference in group acupuncture versus our usual one on one care. These treatments take place in a group setting, where we may see 20 people over 2 hours in a large room. Patients are seated in chairs instead of lying down on a table. Group acupuncture is just acupuncture; no massage, cupping, moxibustion or herbal advice, we just unfortunately don’t have the time to spend going over your entire health history to safely administer herbs in this setting. And finally, not all conditions are as effectively treated at group. For example, we do not turn breech babies or help women prepare for labor in the group setting. Besides those differences, acupuncture at group is a great option. We treat patients every week for sleeplessness, anxiety, stress and pains. We’ve been providing this service for five years and are pleased to continue to offer this until every Vermonter can access our services one on one.
